The First Nations Development Institute awarded Life’s Language Lodge a $75,000.00 grant. The funding will support the Life’s Language Lodge project: Embracing Language through Transcription, Translation, Literacy, and Documentation of Myths and Legends of the Aaniiih and Nakoda People.
Life’s Language Lodge will translate traditional stories told in English and tell them in the Aaniiih and Nakoda Languages. Staff will write Aaniiih and Nakoda storybooks and readers that students ages 0-7 years and from kindergarten to 6th grade will use in the classroom.
Life’s Language Lodge provides language and cultural instruction to children, parents, and the community by sharing traditional stories and producing classroom curricula, digital recordings, and instructional videos. Current language information is available at www.lifeslanglodge.com.
